History, culture and traditions revealed |
This is a unique way of discovering the history and developement of The City of Angels as we cycle our way along the timeline of Bangkok.
This tour follows the path of the formation and developement of Bangkok. You'll experience ancient temples and small communities where the traditional ways are still maintained. Most people are surprised that just across the river, many locals still conduct their lives on the waterways in dugouts and paddle boats.
This tour will show you a different side to Bangkok that you would normally not experience on your own and leave you with a new perspective of Bangkok and Thai people.
Most of the route follows back roads, hidden pathways and little lanes where friendly people go about their daily lives. At times you'll feel like you're riding through their kitchens and living rooms.
We meet at 8.45 (or 13.30), at Just Nok New Office, where we’ll do a quick bike fitting and briefing before setting off on a fun filled morning.
We start with a leisurely ride through the hidden allayways of the backpacker area on route to the magnificent Rama 8 bridge from which you have a panoramic view of the mighty Chao Phraya river or as known in English - the River of Kings. Our adventure continues by visiting an abandoned temple dating from the mid seventeen hundreds. From here we wind our way through some of the oldest communities in Bangkok followed by a quick stop an equally old temple but which is still in use and serves as a school for monks. This temple is adorned with historial murals in the main ordination hall.
This tour is a real step back in time, as we explore old riverside communities, home-based industries that still practice the traditional way of processing and manufacturing their goods using basic rudimentary tools. Our tour continues and takes us through the famous Siriraj hospital where where catch the ferry back to modern day Bangkok. From here it's a relaxing scenic ride along the river with a short stop in a quaint park before heading on back to the Just Nok office.
